Artist Statement

As an artist, instructor and nature connector, my work delves into the symbiotic relationship between humans and the natural world. My pressed and living botanical mandalas express a deep connection to, and gratitude for, the earth's gifts. These creations, along with altar making serve as a tool to mark seasonal transitions, through mindfulness, anchoring me in the present while offering opportunities to collaborate with nature and reflect on the beauty of impermanence. Through close-up photography, I reveal the hidden realms often overlooked at first glance, showcasing the subtle details that emerge when we look closely. Each image serves as a testament to the cyclical nature of life, capturing the textures, patterns, and colors of organic and industrial materials. This exploration emphasizes how all elements of our environment are interconnected, inviting a deeper appreciation for the complex forms that shape our experiences. My mixed media and collage work allow me to repurpose papers, found objects, and botanicals into freeform expressions of creativity. This practice not only reflects my love for reusing and repurposing but also contributes to sustainability by keeping materials out of landfills. Through this cohesive blend of mediums, I strive to create artwork that speaks to the beauty, sacredness and fragility of our planet.
