ArtistPremier
Shoreline, WA

Artist Bio Mimi is a self-taught, Seattle-area mixed-media artist who began painting just one year ago. What started as a personal and therapeutic creative outlet has quickly grown into a passion for painting, making, experimenting, and transforming everyday materials into original works of art. Her approach is intuitive and exploratory. She works with bold color, texture, collage, abstract forms, photography, found objects, and repurposed materials while continuing to discover and develop her artistic voice. Upcycling is an important part of her practice. Old canvases, previously used frames, recycled materials, leather jackets, and unexpected objects can all become surfaces for something new. She is drawn to the idea of transformation—seeing possibility and beauty in something that might otherwise be overlooked or discarded. Right now, Mimi is especially inspired by the vibrant color, energy, and visual storytelling found in Caribbean art and artists; wolves, which she identifies with as her spirit animal; flowers and botanical forms; sacred geometry; and the beauty, shape, texture, and presence of large, magnificent Afros. These influences appear in her work through color, pattern, symbolism, organic shapes, portraiture, and experimentation. Art-making is also deeply therapeutic for Mimi. Creating gives her a place to decompress, reflect, process emotions, and become completely absorbed in working with her hands. The experience of making the artwork can be every bit as important as the finished piece. Only a year into painting, she embraces being a beginner rather than trying to hide it. Her practice is about curiosity, experimentation, learning, and giving herself permission to create without being confined by traditional rules or a single artistic style.

Dmitri Ivanov
Artist
Seattle, WA

Dmitri Ivanov of dmitriivanovart.com is a passionate contemporary Seattle artist, creating stunning original paintings, intricate drawings, hand-drawn digital art, as well as other types of art, involving different types mediums. His work is a reflection of his unique vision of the world, blending intuition and imagination to bring life to his creations. With a commitment to authenticity and creativity, Dmitri Ivanov Art aims to share the beauty of art with the Seattle art scene and the rest of the world. Dmitri Ivanov is widely recognized for his hyper-intricate pen-and-ink illustrations that blend cosmic exploration with botanical surrealism. His distinct approach to world-building separates his art from traditional science fiction illustrators. Operating out of the Pacific Northwest, his unique identity is defined by several core elements: High-Contrast Stippling and Line Work - The foundation of Ivanov’s style relies on painstaking, microscopic ink application. Instead of relying on digital gradients, he generates depth, shadow, and cosmic textures using dense stippling (dot-work) and cross-hatching. This gives his illustrations an organic, hand-etched texture reminiscent of 19th-century engravings, even when depicting highly futuristic subjects. The "Space Garden" Concept - While most sci-fi art frames outer space as cold and metallic, Ivanov’s signature thematic universe introduces interplanetary botany. He routinely places astronauts, moons, and spaceships alongside massive, swirling celestial mushrooms, terrariums, blooming flora, and winding vines. This surreal mashup frames cosmic exploration as a form of cosmic gardening or eco-futurism. Sub-Aquatic Cosmic Surrealism - Ivanov frequently merges the imagery of the deep ocean with deep space. His portfolio features iconic images of deep-space octopuses floating past planets, alongside astronauts navigating alien worlds that behave like coral reefs. This thematic crossover emphasizes the parallel mysteries between Earth's uncharted oceans and the edge of the universe. Multi-Disciplinary Flexibility - Beyond the black-and-white ink work that serves as his social media hallmark under @dmitri_ivanov_art, he is a highly versatile creator. He intentionally experiments across different mediums, fluidly translating his high-concept fantasy and surrealist aesthetics into physical paintings and sculptures. Dmitri’s artworks can be found in private collections across the Pacific Northwest. Dmitri's portfolio can be viewed on his website: dmitriivanovart.com
