I worked for many years as a food, wine, travel & marketing writer for Seattle magazine and other publications. I have an MFA in Poetry from UW, and a PhD English Literature and creative writing from the University of Houston.
Although I always wanted to be a painter, and I studied art and art history on my own, I didn't really start making art seriously until I turned 50. I started by drawing oyster shells I loved to gather from Buck Bay Shellfish Farm, near where I lived on Orcas Island.
I then studied at Gage Academy in Seattle for two years, including attending the Trowbridge Atelier in Georgetown, studying with Kimberly Trowbridge. Now I am an artist and art & business coach, helping other artists start businesses and websites. I live on San Juan Island, and am represented by WaterWorks Gallery in Friday Harbor.
