Laura is an abstract artist who works on large multimedia paintings. When time allows, she loves working on video pieces in Final Cut and large digital pieces in Photoshop. Laura’s paintings and digital works are created through intuitive responses. The process is completely organic and spontaneous. Her inspiration comes from her life experiences as well as the colors and forms found in nature around her Pacific Northwest home. Laura has traveled to China, Bali, France, Italy, and Greece. She also briefly lived in Chicago. Spokane is her hometown and where she still lives and works today. Laura has studied Interior Design, Art History, and has a degree in Fine Arts from Eastern Washington University. She is influenced by the work of Pipilotti Rist, Paul Klee, Georgia O’Keeffe, Judy Chicago, Monet, Maja Petrić, and Dali. She enjoys trying new materials and techniques just to see what will happen. Curiosity is something that leads to invention and is in her blood. Laura’s works tend to be whimsical at times and dark at others. Although the dark can be off putting, it is also necessary to be embraced so that when we recognize ourselves in others, we are not fearful of the unknown. Darkness is also necessary for contrast in design to create visual movement and interest within art.
