Surcoat and Liripipe Hood

2025 · Second use wools, linens and damask

A parti-colored surcoat pieced together from strips of patterned wool. Also shown here is a black linen liripipe hood. Not as visible are a black wool tunic, and his undertunic crafted from a damask tablecloth.

The Gardecorps

2025 · Wool

JB had been gifted with a length of wool found at a thrift store. He also provided the buttons, and the inspiration for this 14th century gardecorps. You can read the complete stories behind the making of this garment at https://augustphoenixhats.com/interpreting-a-14th-century-gardecorps/ and https://augustphoenixhats.com/the-rest-of-the-gardecorps-story/

Gardecorps Detail

2025

Three of the closures for this gardecorps. His Mongolian buttons teamed well with the lucet cord I made on the lucet fork JB made for me. This garment was a true collaborative effort.

Hood with Oak Dagging

The gardecorps needed a hood that could be dressed down, and laundered. So I made the oak leaf dagging detachable via pairs of snaps. It is not historically accurate but it works really well for the modern world needs of this performer.

Gardecorps Hood
