Swirling between artistry and authenticity, I seek to tell stories beautifully and honestly in an attempt to freeze time in the way that only photography can. My most formative memories from childhood all center around either boxes and albums full of photos, meeting versions of my parents and grandparents that I never knew, or exploring new landscapes with a camera in my hand, stolen from my parents on our road trips around the country. For years, photographs were simply memories to me; an integral part of grounding myself in reality when my time blindness swept me away from the present moment. Today, they remain memories, but carry much more impact to me. I’m inspired by connection and scale and feature both in my work harmoniously. The feeling of standing small beneath a mighty landscape could never be captured within a single photograph, but I humbly make the attempt each time I pick up my camera while always centering the story of my human subjects.
