The "touch and texture" sensation of Fiber/Mixed Media Art allows people to connect with art, and allows them to explore their own creative imaginations, feelings, and emotions. Linda uses color, texture and symbolism to give the viewer "permission" to connect to the feeling and emotions of all art. She draws on childhood memories of finger-painting, crayons, chalk side-walk paintings, taking delight in combining the outrageous colors and fun of Pop-Art and Bugs Bunny cartoons, the dream-like, fantasy, qualities of Surrealism and the beautiful tones and textures of Impressionism in composing her art.
Linda was born and raised in Great Falls, Montana. Her mother's family is one of the first African American families to have settled in Montana while it was still part of the Nebraska Territory. She attended college at the University of Montana (formerly Eastern Montana College), Billings, MT. and received degrees in Speech Communication/Theatre Arts and Psychology. In addition, she received an MBA and MLO from City University, Seattle, WA and graduate certificate in Fiber Arts from the University of Washington. Linda's photography and Art work has been featured on album covers, Facebook, juried art shows and galleries. Her art work has been featured at the UW School of Social Work Gallery, C-Gallery-Seattle, Northwest Folklife Fiber Arts Booth and the Art and Social Change juried show at Meydenbauer Center, Bellevue, WA. Linda owns and operates White Carnations Voices, dedicated to Voice Acting and By Request Designs for Fiber Art and Photography work. Linda continues to explore touch, texture, symbolism, and color through African textiles and their development and history and meanings in the African Diaspora.
