Multimedia
My practice constists of multimedia wall mounted installations (video, oil on panel, audio) and traditional oil on panel paintings. They are all done in my surrealist style, focusing on Pacific Northwest flora. This gallery is for the multimedia work. Prices include the work, monitor, media player and installation if you are local. Note that these installations are very flexible and can be adjusted to work with / around all sorts of room configurations. To that end, if you have a TV in place and want to configure an installations around it, that can be done! If you are interested in a commision, please contact me directly.

This work is based on Tacoma's (Washington State, USA) Point Defiance Park. There is a wooded trail in this large park which features rhododendrons. On an afternoon in May, I shot the video, took lots of pictures and brought it all back to my studio. This installation leans in on the gestural forms of the flowers and the plants For this installation, I overlap stenciled imagery from the painting on the video to integrate the two visual media. Over the summer of 2024, I moved my studio to the Amazon Spheres Understory building in downtown Seattle. The Understory is directly below Amazon's giant four story glass terrarium/work area. The work seen below is the multi-media wall mounted installation that I created while there. It captures my abstracted interpretations of the incredible tropical plants in the Spheres and mixes it with my impressions of the neighborhood where the building is located. Capturing an afternoon in March on the Asahel Curtiss trail which is about an hour east of Seattle near Snoqualmie Pass. There are two different views of the trail which alternate during the loop. The audio captures the morning sounds of the forest along with a river and the distant highway which can be heard at some spots on the trail. For this installation, I overlap stenciled imagery from the painting on the video to integrate the two visual media. The installation consists of two inch deep painted panels, framed woodcut, video and audio. The 12 minute looping video captures an October afternoon in bit of urban wild in south Seattle. The video incorporates stenciled layers of the imagery in the paintings and the woodcut. These fade in and out in different patterns. The audio captures the sounds of the greenspace along with some distant coyote howls from the canines that are known to frequent the area. This is a quiet, contemplative work which provides a full immersive experience for the viewer. Video sample link https://vimeo.com/1121643771?fl=tl&fe=ec

The 12 minute looping video captures a late morning in July along Johnny Creek which is a tributary to Icicle Creek on the east side of the Cascade range in Washington State. The video incorporates stenciled layers of the imagery in the paintings. These layers fade in and out of the video in constantly changing patterns. The audio captures sounds of the creek and other incidental noise. This is one of my smaller installations. The gentle creek noise makes this a good get away from the surrounding world.
