Found Light
The current series, 'Found Light', started organically and has been continuing to form that way. This collection is inspired by colorful glass objects found on curb sides and in antique stores. Ordinary, forgotten vessels set in the right lighting are given a new life. I often wonder - who owned it before and why was it discarded? Found Light is an invitation to slow down & admire the objects, and enjoy the light and shadows moving through and around them, their reflections and refractions. Layers of thin oil glazes express a desire for more light and more transparency in the world.

Lucky Cat, 16x16", oil on cradle panel, Sept 2026. This piece came together organically as the objects and flowers appeared in my life. I went to a cat cafe here in Seattle as I sometimes do when I'm missing my cat who passed away. I saw this cute little carved rock kitty in the gift shop on my way out & it made me smile. I brought it home and it sat on my office desk for months; I had no intention of ever painting it. The purple glass vase was later found while browsing a local antique mall. I had picked out the yellow coreopsis flowers at the beginning of this summer to plant in one of my roof deck containers. The flowers and the vase came together first, with their nicely contrasting colors. It seemed like my still life was missing something just posing those in the sun for a still life. Then I looked over at my desk and saw the stone cat smiling at me. Visit my site to see images of the original objects painted here.

At the same antique shop where my friend found the glass pear of the previous painting, this cool green pitcher caught my eye. I thought it would be great both for use and a subject. I brought some lemon water up to my roof deck one morning to enjoy the bright Seattle light. Then the sun beams struck just right.
Little Blue House

I found this glass bottle and it reminded me of the little blue house I grew up in in New England. This piece is now part of the King County public art collection here in King County Washington.

A local chocolate maker here in the greater Seattle area makes these amazing chocolate truffles in colorful foil wrappers. They were something I tried on my visit to Seattle just before I moved here from Brooklyn and have enjoyed ever since then. I came across the MCM glass candy dish at a vintage mall in Port Angeles last summer. The color and the shape immediately appealed to me. It holds my shiny wrapped truffles perfectly.

Loved the natural composition and colors of these stuffed olives, stuffed in a jar that I found at DeLaurenti in the market

This piece is about beauty in simplicity. I found this cobalt blue vase with simple angular shapes running down the sides and a heavy clear base at a Goodwill in Seattle. It paired beautifully with some bright yellow callas I bought at Trader Joe's - both for the bright primary colors and the lovely, clean, flowing lines. Together, they created a color story about nature and reuse, and created new light & shapes in the sunlight on my deck; the shadow a third object in their union.
