Drew Ng

Andrew Ng work explores the themes of identity and spirituality using a modernist lens. Ng is self-taught and began painting as a means of escapism. In his early works of 2020, he created abstract portraits and surreal landscapes, highlighting self-concept and entropy of the environment as major themes. He later experimented with techniques from Impressionism and Pop Art, layering impasto, iconography, and collaged prints from modern media, into his triptych works. Ng feels the artistic exchange between the cultural landscape and the artist opens up the conversation to challenge our individualistic and systematic preconceptions.

Ng’s creative direction was channeled to the creative collective Empire Taste. Highlighted in collections such as the ‘Wealth Within’, ‘Run with the Pack’, ‘Home Court Advantage’, and ‘Hoist Fest’.

His work has been presented at the group exhibition ‘Fourtune House Season One Gallery - Part Two’ in October 2022.
