In this 3 day workshop taught by Tenaya Sims. Students create a single portrait drawing from the live model in tandem with the instructor. At each major stage of the drawing process, there is a demonstration and lecture to map out the next step forward. The first day students learn to work with water soluble graphite, and we will establish our portrait design through thumbnail/value studies. The second day we begin the portrait block-in based on our design, and then begin massing in key tonal areas with water soluble graphite. On the third day, we’ll focus on rendering the half-tones and lights of our portrait.
