In this portrait and figure painting workshop we learn how to simplify form, value and mix skin tones with a process that is easy to understand and execute. Dominique’s demos break down the process of painting into clear and consecutive steps. You will receive personal critique and instruction each session.
We will work predominantly from models but will also learn how to utilize photos to assist in our work. Since simplicity is one of our goals, we will be using a limited palette, a primary palette designed to help us refine our understanding of color relationships.
When painting we focus on the four main aspects of a portrait: Proportion, Value, Color, and Edge. This helps us capture a likeness within a limited time frame. Practicing this way over the course of the weekend will sharpen your observation.
