Falling Out of the Box is an annual jewelry and metal art design challenge and exhibit hosted by the Jansen Art Center’s Jewelry Studio. This is the 5th year for the challenge, which is designed to encourage artists to create something new, challenge themselves to use different materials and have fun sharing their work with a community of artists.
This year’s theme is Lost but not Forgotten. Everyone knows the sad tale of losing an earring from your favorite pair. Now what? Let the shapes, colors and designs of those missing earrings be your inspiration. Each box will contain an image of 3 earrings that are missing their pair and the artist will choose one to inspire a wearable jewelry piece that represents it. Artists can add additional materials to what is given in the box if they would like. The complete set of rules are listed below on the registration form which will open August 12 – September 5!
Purchase a material box and be apart of the fun! On September 3rd, the boxes will start being sent out and you can begin to create your piece. This is an opportunity to create competitively and exhibit your work here at the J!
