      August 24 – 25

      Tuition: $425

      Level: all levels welcome

Learn the unique process and techniques that Brad uses to combine oil paint and gilding. In this 2-day workshop, you will embark on two separate projects. One panel will be a gilding panel, to practice the technique of leafing. On the second panel you will paint the moon and an imagined landscape alongside Brad to explore his materials and techniques.

Since we are limited in time, and Brad’s process of gilding and painting requires multiple days of drying in between, Brad is separating the gilding from the oil painting. But during the workshop, you will learn how to combine these two practices into one painting back in your home studio.

If using your imagination is something you don’t do, or don’t do enough, then this workshop will be good for you as well. Brad will share an exercise that he uses to create a short term memory bank of references before he paints trees and nature using his imagination. With this knowledge, you can apply these processes and materials to any subject or range of colors.

A instructional video will be provided by Brad ahead of time, so that you may prepare your panels with the Gamblin Oil Ground and toned with Raw Umber
