In this in-depth, 4 day workshop, Suchitra will offer her insights on the importance of bringing transformation into your life, work and how to sustain yourself physically and mentally in creating paintings that will touch people who see them. This topic is vital if you are truly looking to get to the next level in your work. This approach is very often overlooked and stress is only on the technique of how to paint portraits.
Suchitra will discuss color theory and explore how to understand seeing the color from life and mixing it on your palette. By way of a photo reference, a quick demonstration of how to see values and color will be covered where the concept of color seeing, color note comparison and mixing will be made clear.
Suchitra will demonstrate the portrait from life and cover the fundamentals in understanding how to draw the shapes, paint the essence of shapes you see, and put them in their right place leading to a resemblance of the sitter that catches the spontaneity in your brushwork. Students will paint a live model with assistance from Suchitra.
Every day, there will be discussions on art fundamentals, process and technique on the day’s demonstration painting, followed by question and answers.
Critiques and insights will be shared to bring about a better understanding of the learning over the 4 days.
