Shinzaburo Takeda is a Japanese-Mexican painter and printmaker. He is considered one of Oaxaca's most important artists. Takeda has lived in Mexico for over fifty years and trained several generations of Mexican artists, including Fulgencio Lazo.

Dr. Lauro Flores is Professor of Chicano and Latin American literatures and cultures at the University of Washington. He is the author of several books, including Alfredo Arreguín: Patterns of Dreams and Nature and Fulgencio Lazo: Reconstruction of Memory.
