Artist Statement

My practice is to see more carefully, and in doing so, to help others see what's possible. Whether it's the geometry of a moonlit seascape, the stillness of water reflecting sky, or the human presence within a landscape, I'm drawn to moments where clarity emerges. These aren't always obvious moments—often they come after careful observation, waiting for the right angle or the right light. I work across different subjects—landscape, water, season, human connection—but the underlying question remains consistent: What does this place show us about how we see? How does attention to visual detail sharpen our thinking? In my photography, as in my mentorship and work with emerging technologies, I believe the same principle applies: clarity comes from honest observation, restraint in composition, and willingness to let people (or viewers) draw their own meaning from what they encounter. A photograph shouldn't oversell its subject. It should invite looking. The Pacific Northwest where I live—its forests, water, light, and seasonal transformation—is both subject and teacher. It teaches us that seeing clearly is a skill, and that what we see shapes how we think, create, and help others move forward.
