As you may know, the City of Seattle is transforming the upper floors of King Street Station into a cultural hub. The goal is to create cultural space at King Street Station that meets the needs of the community and advances racial equity through the arts.

To do this right, we want to include organizations and individuals who lead work in youth programs. The Office of Arts & Culture is undertaking a public engagement process comprised of focus groups and public meetings. Feedback from these meetings will culminate in a plan identifying the needs of the Seattle cultural community through a race and social justice lens.

We have engaged local journalist, historian and videographer Shaun Scott to facilitate the process, including this meeting. To get a better understanding of what we are working towards, check out Scott’s blog in City Arts Magazine here.

This will be a working meeting so please be ready to share your thoughts and bring your ideas. Please RSVP. If you can’t make it to the meeting feel free to send us your thoughts by taking a survey.
