Gilchun Koh and Chris Maynard’s environmental activism is at the forefront of their art. Koh creates etchings of birds with their heads bound, symbolizing the human-caused environmental destruction of his home, Jeju Island, South Korea. Maynard is based in the PNW and known for his intricately carved bird feathers that draw on his background as a biologist and highlight a deep appreciation for the natural world.
