White Center For The Arts at Jubilee Days

by Joe McDonald on July 14, 2009

Posted from White Center For The Arts:

White Center for the Arts ( will be heavily represented at Jubilee Days ( this year.  For both days of the event, July 18th and 19th, White Center for the Arts will have a booth in the community area where everyone can participate in a future public art project.  This will be the first of many community art projects that they will host.  It will be a clay mosaic.  Do what you want with your piece of clay, sign your name or initials, and they will make sure that your piece is placed in the finished mosaic.  Fun for one and all.  And you’ll be a famous artist!

White Center for the Arts will also have a float in the parade, which starts at the McDonalds on 16th Ave SW near 114th.  The float starts at 1:00 PM and they will be handing out candy and flyers. They will float towards downtown White Center on 16th Ave SW with the rest of the crew.

White Center for the Arts is hosting another Art Event this coming weekend in conjunction with Jubilee Days. They will be in the parking lot of the Skate Building on 17th Ave SW and will be active for regular hours of 5 PM to 10 PM.  Enjoy the nearby Beer Gardens, and the music flowing from the stage while you watch art in action!

White Center Gallery Show Call For Artists

by Joe McDonald on May 26, 2009

White Center for the Arts is looking for artists to show work at their monthly gallery show and studio tour (every third Saturday, 5pm). The next one is on June 20th.

The show is open to a wide range of work, from visual art for the walls, to multimedia and performance.  There are various open spaces to use in the  historic building in the heart of the White Center Strip.

Work may be for sale and priced by the artist.

They would love to host artists that live in or nearby to the neighborhood of White Center, but are open to all work!

Please contact their curator, Aylin Koker, at if interested.

Save the White Center, Southgate Skate Center, Seattle, WA While I’m not personally familiar with the art center or the building, I do like to support a good community cause. White Center for the Arts is an emerging nonprofit community arts organization and they are trying to save/buy the old skate building in White Center that they currently occupy. If they don’t raise enough money for this historic building, it will most likely be turned into a light industry factory.  It is perfect as a community cultural center for arts, education, performance, and history. It has always been community venue.

Help support the cause. For more information, visit
