Part of our mission here at SeattleArtists.com is to use digital technology to promote local artists and their work, as well as distribute art related information that we feel the community would benefit from.

arts-of-kenmore-logoIn the spirit of that goal, we’d like to give a quick shout-out to The Arts of Kenmore organization. This non-profit organization gives out several grants to local schools to support their arts programs.

Fundraiser Dinner & Silent Auction For Max

by Joe McDonald on April 27, 2011

I was recently contacted by Josh Burt, the father of Max, asking for donations and support for a fundraiser they are having. Max will turn 2 years old this month and was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Neuroblastoma and a neurological disorder called Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome. Even with having good insurance they are having a difficult time keeping up with all of the medical bills. Their friends have joined together to have a fundraiser for their son Max on Saturday May 21st.

The event will consist of a spaghetti dinner and silent auction. If anyone is interested in donating artwork or other items for the auction or would like to make a monetary donation to help, please contact Maxs father, Josh Burt at 206-409-4576 or by email at jc_burt@yahoo.com. They have setup a family blog where you can learn more at http://burtfamily5.blogspot.com.

Max will turn 2 this month and every little bit helps.

Thank you.

Save the White Center, Southgate Skate Center, Seattle, WA While I’m not personally familiar with the art center or the building, I do like to support a good community cause. White Center for the Arts is an emerging nonprofit community arts organization and they are trying to save/buy the old skate building in White Center that they currently occupy. If they don’t raise enough money for this historic building, it will most likely be turned into a light industry factory.  It is perfect as a community cultural center for arts, education, performance, and history. It has always been community venue.

Help support the cause. For more information, visit www.whitecenterforthearts.org
