Seattle Weekly’s Best Of Seattle Party will take place on Wednesday, August 1st at Pier 66, Elliot Hall. This blow-out party showcases Seattle’s best food, drinks and entertainment on the waterfront with unlimited bites, craft cocktails, live music and installation art.

Artist and Performer Highlights – Get ready for an evening full of art, music and dance. Skerik will perform alongside The D’Vonne Lewis Quartet, comprised of both nationally and locally well-known jazz musicians Skerik, D’Vonne Lewis, Evan Flory, and Andy Coe. Jesse Sykes and Phil Wandscher of Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter will also be performing, with a mesmerizing acoustic set highlighting Jesse’s beautiful voice.

Featuring Seattle Weekly’s Web Awards – Not to be forgotten is the third presentation of Seattle Weekly’s Web Awards, honoring the who’s who of Seattle’s tech and social media savvy community.

Photo Center NW Long Shot marathon

LONG SHOT is a 24 hour photo marathon that celebrates photography, creativity, and our greater community, while raising funds for education and outreach programs at Photo Center NW. The event is open to everyone, using any camera, anywhere. At lease one image from each participant will be featured in the LONG SHOT exhibition at Photo Center NW on July 23,2011.

Sign up for LONG SHOT and follow our lead to the marathon on June 17-18! We have over 100 people already signed on to participate, but we want to know how YOU will spend 24 hours with your camera. Will you be up all night? Take a few pictures and hit the hay? Are you up for some late night diner meals or watching the sun rise (from wherever you may be on June 18)? How about a road trip? Find out more about LONG SHOT here and learn how your participation contributes to Photo Center NW, a non-profit art center that serves YOU

All participants will have a chance to show their best work in the Photo Center gallery during the LONG SHOT exhibition and celebration on July 23. Round up some friends and sign up for a photographic adventure culminating in an epic party in celebration of photography and creativity!

The Greenwood Collective invites Seattle area residents to the Penguins on the March silent auction on Friday, August 14th, between 6 – 9pm, during the monthly Art Up Greenwood-Phinney art walk.

Woodland Park Zoo, Greenwood Collective, Seattle Penguins on the March, silent auction Fifty-four Seattle artists of all ages and experience levels painted, embellished and decorated fabricated penguins. This community celebration of art and wildlife conservation is inspired by Woodland Park Zoo’s brand new Humboldt penguin exhibit, which opened in May.

These penguins have been migrating through Seattle neighborhoods including Greenwood, Phinney Ridge, Ballard, Fremont and Wallingford since early June. About 30 of these penguins will be auctioned off to benefit Woodland Park Zoo’s field conservation program. Woodland Park Zoo supports 38 wildlife conservation projects in 50 countries worldwide, including the Humboldt Penguin Conservation Center at Punta San Juan.

WHEN: Friday, August 14, 2009 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Auctions close at 8:00 and 8:45 p.m. Winning bids will be announced and distributed by 9:00 p.m.

DETAILS: Featuring 30 penguins, Many artists will be present – Select penguins will be featured in two different areas at The Greenwood Collective – Auction will close at 8:00 p.m. (China Room) and 8:45 p.m. (Main Room) – Guests who purchase a penguin will be able to take it home that evening – Cash, check and credit card will be accepted for all silent auction purchases – Artist interviews available at The Greenwood Collective (upon request)
