On Any Sunday/ Art Studio Tour is at this point still a concept working toward critical mass. The idea is relatively simple and in production even now. Basically the call is for artists to open there studios on Sunday as part of a loosely organized campaign to reclaim Sundays for culture and art. Sundays and weekends in general have been lost to organized sports and spectacles. In Europe Sunday is often the most focused day for family and for the arts. I’m hoping to see the same happen here. Go to http://artstudiotour.blogspot.com to learn more about the operation. But remember its free, individual artist oriented and requires no fees. Eventually we hope to have a web page similar to craigs list where On Any Sunday the art browsing public can go online and find a list of several art studios in their geographical area to visit. Onward and upward and spread the word.

Georgetown has a very exciting art walk on the second Saturday of every month. It is unfortunate that it happens the same timew and day as Ballards art walk, but hey if you want to alternate between two of Seattles most entertaining art walks, now is your chance. This event encompasses many open studios and businesses on and off of Airport way. Some major cutting edge art and lots of restaurants and bars for after the walk. Feel free to contact us if you have ?’s
We look forward to seeing you

You are missing the West Edge neighborhood, heart of the Museum Arts District where five of the Northwest’s longest running galleries operate and are open on First Thursday’s.

If you visit SAM don’t miss these galleries, all within one block of the Seattle Art Museum. All five galleries support our local artist’s community by representing local as well as notionally recognized artists.

Traver Gallery on 1st and Union
Benham Gallery on 1st and University
Rovsar Gallery on 2nd and University
Friesen Gallery across the street on 2nd and University
SAM Gallery on 3rd and University

The light rail’s 3rd stop in the metro tunnel will drop you off at the West Edge, heart of Seattle’s arts and entertainment district plus, it’s completely within Metro’s ride free zone.

So leave your car at home and enjoy Seattle’s favorite neighborhood while riding free and green, West Edge!
